REPLACEMENT SHELLS & BUTTONS FOR GAME BOY ADVANCE

These are currently produced by two separate factories. We will distinguish them by TYPE A and TYPE B.

There are some issues with compatibility across the different manufacturers, as a result, we have added attributes to our GBA products to help you find the best match (or at least make a more informed decision).

TYPE A SHELLS are from the same factory that produces the coloured GBA BUTTONS. TYPE A SHELLS are considered a more accurate moulding and are the most compatible with GBA BUTTONS - they should require very little or no modification for a good fit.

TYPE B SHELLS came after TYPE A - they are available in many more (excellent) colours BUT are considered a lower accuracy moulding. TYPE B SHELLS are still compatible with GBA BUTTONS, but will most likely require modification of the shoulder buttons and shell to achieve a good, freely moving and usable fit.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

Since some colours of shell are available in both TYPE A and TYPE B, it is no longer as straightforward to identify which type you have by the colour alone.

A few things we noticed include:

• DIFFERENT FONT USED FOR LOGOS AND TEXT

• DIFFERENT COLOUR OF STANDARD GREY BUTTONS

TYPE A SHELLS, TYPE B SHELLS AND REPLACEMENT GBA BUTTONS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ORIGINAL GBA BUTTONS OR SHELLS.

You cannot replace the buttons on an original GBA without also changing the shell. It may be possible with HEAVY MODIFICATION but they are certainly not designed for this purpose.
